Description

Early Fijian pole club. Carved from a dense wood this straight shafted pole club flares slightly towards the rounded head. A rare element to this piece is the Maori carving at the base of the handle comprising panels of triple haehae lines and dragon tooth notching.

Provenance

Formerly in the collection of the missionary Annie Farnsworth (1850-1948).
