Description

This is one of the most substantial and heavy weight (1.9kg) Maori patu onewa that I have had in my possession. Its carved from a dense greywacke stone with suspension hole to handle drilled from both sides. This piece has superb form and balance and would have been a formidable weapon. Dates to the first half of the 19th century.
