Description

19th century New Hebrides Battle Axe. A stamp on the axe blade comprises a crown and wreath with the number 3 below. The handle is braided cord made of human hair with two cylindrical white glass/coral beads attached to the end. There is a small split near the axe head which probably occurred during the initial hafting of the axe blade.
